Christian McCaffrey gains 1,200 rushing yards

Even though there has been plenty of speculation about Christian McCaffrey’s role next season, it’s clear that head coach Matt Rhule does not want to take away what the player does best.

That, of course, is setting the tone out of the backfield running the football.

Obviously, avoiding punishment in between the tackles is almost a necessity given McCaffrey’s recent injury problems. But the Carolina Panthers did manage to secure the services of D’Onta Foreman in free agency – a player that proved more than capable of gaining the hard yards when filling in for Derrick Henry on the Tennessee Titans in 2021.

McCaffrey will also have the benefit of running behind a much-improved offensive line. Bradley Bozeman and Austin Corbett arrived early in the free-agent period and the team also drafted Ikem Ekwonu at No. 6 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft to further bolster options.

The more assistance McCaffrey gets, the better. And it’s also worth remembering that when the player is on the field, his production remains at an elite standard.

Providing there are no complications and everything goes according to plan, then McCaffrey going for 1,200 rushing yards next season is an ambitious but achievable goal. One that can be the catalyst behind an encouraging campaign for everyone associated with the franchise.
