5 free-agent bargains still available for the Panthers in 2022

Carolina Panthers could sign Tashaun Gipson
Defensive coordinator Phil Snow stated before the 2022 NFL Draft that he would like the Carolina Panthers to acquire another safety this offseason. This obviously did not materialize and the team even released undrafted free-agent Drew Hartlaub after just one day of rookie minicamp.
In fairness to the Panthers, they did successfully bring Xavier Woods on board from the Minnesota Vikings in free agency as well as re-sign Justin Burris and Sean Chandler to team-friendly deals. There also remains some hope that Kenny Robinson can make big strides in Year 3 of his professional career.
That’s without taking into account the presence of stud Jeremy Chinn on the backend.
However, it might be worth the Panthers securing another veteran to compete in training camp should the opportunity arise.
Tashaun Gipson is among the top safeties remaining on the market. He has been a supreme ballhawk throughout his career with 27 interceptions to date and even though the former Wyoming star might be past the peak of his powers, this would be a cheap veteran leader that could steer a talented young group in the right direction.
Gipson is probably looking for a chance to sign somewhere else quickly and get a full camp under his belt. If Carolina wants to bolster their options in the secondary, they could do far worse.
