Carolina Panthers could trade for Aaron Rodgers

There is obviously a flip side to the Jordan Love coin.

Aaron Rodgers did commit himself to the Green Bay Packers after signing a new deal. But the contract is set up to such a degree that this fluid situation could change each offseason.

Although Rodgers fell short in the postseason once again, his production throughout the 2021 regular season campaign was exemplary en route to a second-consecutive NFL MVP award.

Whether he can do the same this time around is debatable. The signal-caller’s task will be made that much more difficult by the loss of Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders seemingly without his knowledge.

This leaves Rodgers relying on some less-heralded talent in the passing game. The Packers also spurned the chance to take an elite wideout in Round No.1  of the 2022 NFL Draft, waiting until Day 2 to acquire Christian Watson out of North Dakota State.

Rodgers is a temperamental figure. So if things don’t go his way and the Carolina Panthers show enough to suggest this is a winnable set-up to join, then the speculation surrounding his future will heat up once again.

Whether the Panthers would jeopardize their high-end draft capital in favor of a quarterback at the tail-end of his career is another matter entirely.
