Carolina Panthers could trade for Tua Tagovailoa
The Miami Dolphins could not have done more to help Tua Tagovailoa this offseason. They have invested heavily in their offensive line – which was the league’s worst in 2021 – and also got one of the NFL’s most dynamic playmakers in the form of Tyreek Hill for good measure.
Trading for the ex-Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver has increased expectations significantly. Miami also has a nice enough defense to call upon, so it’s likely to come down to whether or not Tagovailoa can take a huge leap forward in 2022.
Much has been made about the former Alabama standout’s durability, which is suspect but should improve behind better protection. Perhaps most concerning of all is a perceived lack of arm strength, so head coach Mike McDaniel will need to come up with a plan that maximizes his playmakers and also limits risks from Tagovailoa.
The AFC is immensely competitive and the Dolphins are situated in a division that includes the Buffalo Bills. Tagovailoa has a huge task on his hands and if he fails to deliver, then the Dolphins might opt to go in a different direction.
Whether the Carolina Panthers would bet on Tagovailoa in this scenario is unclear. But it’s something they have done before and could be willing to do again.
