Which upcoming free agents are unlikely to be back with the Carolina Panthers in 2023 unless something drastic changes next season?
A fascinating season awaits the Carolina Panthers in 2022. One that will go a long way to determining just what the future holds for head coach Matt Rhule and other influential figures within the organization.
The fact Rhule is already taking questions about a potential successor is far from ideal. Something the former Baylor man had to do this week when a rumor surfaced about the Panthers reportedly Sean Payton if things continue trending downward.
David Tepper called Rhule to tell him there was nothing in it. But the only way he can relieve pressure on himself is by finally steering the floundering Carolina ship back on the right track.
There is a lot on the line for players, too. Here are five upcoming free agents that probably won’t be brought back by the Panthers in 2023.
Player No. 1
Juston Burris – Carolina Panthers S
It was perhaps surprising to see the Carolina Panthers re-sign Juston Burris after another campaign frustrated by injury. However, the team will be asking far less of the veteran this time around following the acquisition of Xavier Woods from the Minnesota Vikings in free agency.
Burris also came back on a very team-friendly deal. And there is little doubt both the North Carolina State product and Kenny Robinson represent nice depth options compared to what the Panthers have had previously.
At least from the outside looking in, it seems unlikely Burris will come back for another run in 2023. Although it cannot be ruled out if the player acclimatizes well to his new role.
