Rashard Higgins – Carolina Panthers WR

Generating consistency from every wide receiver not named D.J. Moore was a challenge for the Carolina Panthers. Robby Anderson’s regression coupled with anonymous rookie seasons from Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith was an immense disappointment, so bringing in help was something the organization had to do in pursuit of increasing urgency if nothing else.

The Panthers clearly remain confident in the aforementioned individuals turning things around. But in case they don’t, the signing of Rashard Higgins from the Cleveland Browns in free agency provides Carolina with a nice fall-back option in 2022.

Higgins has been a solid if not spectacular performer throughout his career. This has come as a rotational piece more often than not, which is a role he could once again secure with a smooth transition to the Panthers.

This was another bargain-basement deal that could be money well spent if Higgins can impact the passing game in a positive fashion. It would be a disappointment if he wasn’t among the top-four on the depth chart in Week 1, which will see him come up against his former employers right out of the gate.

What comes next is ultimately down to Higgins. But this represents a solid landing spot for the player if he makes his presence felt during the upcoming preparation period.
