Stephen Sullivan – Carolina Panthers TE

The Carolina Panthers haven’t made many alterations to the tight end position this offseason despite the group contributing very little to the offensive gameplan since Greg Olsen left for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 free agency.

Ben McAdoo’s influence played a leading role in Ian Thomas’ extension. Tommy Tremble could become more of a factor with further refinement – but things are hanging on a knife-edge looking at the options available.

One player that also finds himself fighting for notoriety is Stephen Sullivan. The former LSU standout has yet to get a real taste of NFL action in a competitive setting, but the Panthers must see something in the player to give him another shot during the upcoming preparation period.

Sullivan has a lot of nice attributes after transitioning from a wide receiver in college. Opportunities during the Tigers’ exceptional national championship campaign in 2019 were limited and the player has yet to truly establish himself at the next level entering his third season.

Thomas and Tremble are guaranteed a roster spot. The likes of Colin Thompson and newly acquired Jared Scott will also fancy their chances of making the team.

There is no doubt that the task awaiting Sullivan is a challenging one. And it’s also worth remembering that this might be his final NFL shot when it’s all said and done.
