Speculation was rampant about the future of Robby Anderson once the 2021 season came to a conclusion. It was an extremely disappointing campaign for the wide receiver, who put up career lows in catch success and yards gained, looking like a demoralized and forlorn figure more often than not.

Anderson received some trade interest from the New England Patriots, but nothing concrete came from discussions and the Carolina Panthers will now move forward with the former Temple star in the hope he can get back to the form of old.

There is certainly enough to suggest this is possible. However, cutting out individual errors and developing chemistry with whoever the Panthers put at quarterback is absolutely crucial.

Getting off to a good start is important for Anderson. Something he managed to accomplish during his first season with the Panthers in 2020 en route to the first 1,000 receiving yard season of his professional career.

Anything less will cause more complications for the player, who is likely to be moved on one way or another with any further regression. Anderson has the character and confidence to turn things around, but much will depend on whether it’s Sam Darnold or someone else under center.
