Ameer Abdullah – Former Carolina Panthers RB

If last season was a late audition for Ameer Abdullah to carve out a long-term role for himself with the Carolina Panthers, it was something that failed to earn the running back another contract. However, it was an encouraging series of displays when called upon and something that did not go unnoticed by other teams across the league.

Abdullah proved himself to be a productive runner out of the backfield and also made a notable contribution in passing situations. Something the Panthers undoubtedly needed at the time with Christian McCaffrey on the shelf.

Carolina is banking on McCaffrey finally ridding himself of the injury problems that have enveloped the player over the last two seasons. The Panthers also got themselves another useful option in D’Onta Foreman in free agency, who could provide a valuable short-yardage contribution to take some pressure off the All-Pro.

The Las Vegas Raiders snapped up Abdullah quickly to bolster a backfield that also consists of Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake within an ultra-competitive AFC West division.

This represents a tremendous opportunity for the player to establish himself in a passing attack that now has stud wide receiver Davante Adams following his high-profile trade from the Green Bay Packers.
