Carolina Panthers could target Eric Ebron

It was a surprise to see the Carolina Panthers hold firm with their tight end options rather than bring in a fresh face or two this offseason. Ben McAdoo clearly feels like he is the man to unlock Ian Thomas’ potential and Tommy Tremble does have upside providing he improves route-running and ball skills in the coming weeks – so all hope might not be lost.

With that being said, it’s vital that the Panthers find more production from a position they were spoiled with for the longest time thanks to the ultra-consistent Greg Olsen. Unless this changes in 2022, it’s only going to make things more difficult for whoever is under center.

Acquiring another veteran that could provide an immediate spark will be considered by the Panthers. Especially if they don’t like the way Thomas or Tremble are acquitting themselves during offseason workouts and training camp.

Eric Ebron might be in the twilight of his career. But he is a physically imposing individual that could be a real asset across the middle or in the red zone in this scenario.

There is a danger that complacency becomes an issue with no competition for starting places unless Colin Thompson takes a significant leap forward. Adding Ebron would alter this narrative in the blink of an eye.
