Cam Newton – Former Carolina Panthers QB

There is no debate on this one.

Drafted No. 1 overall by the Carolina Panthers in 2011, the former Auburn standout and Heisman Trophy winner lived up to the expectations.

Cam Newton became arguably the best rushing quarterback ever and won the league’s Most Valuable Player award in 2015 when he helped lead Carolina to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance.

Newton’s 2015 season remains one of the best seasons ever by an NFL quarterback. While injuries eventually derailed his career over the past few years, the team brought him back last season because of just how loved he is by the fanbase.

While Newton was never able to lead the Panthers to a title, the team has been searching for its next franchise quarterback since the day they released him in 2020. Showing just how good he was.

Nobody that saw Newton at the peak of his powers will ever forget it. He was a truly transcendent talent that played the game with a fun-loving swagger that made him an icon in the Carolinas.

Whether we’ve seen the last of Newton in a Panthers uniform is still undetermined. But he is undeniably the team’s best-ever signal-caller.

Honorable mention: Jake Delhomme
