Jonathan Stewart – Former Carolina Panthers RB

This one was extremely tough because it very easily could have been DeAngelo Williams or Christian McCaffrey.

However, Jonathan Stewart had the longest career with the Carolina Panthers and is still the team’s all-time leading rusher with 7,318 yards to go with 51 rushing touchdowns.

When McCaffrey had his historic 2019 season en route to 1,000 yards rushing and receiving, it looked as if he would take the throne as the team’s best running back. But injuries have set him back a bit over the past two years.

McCaffrey will likely shoulder less in the way of responsibility in 2021 as the Panthers look to do everything in their power to keep their best offensive weapon on the field. Something that will be crucial to their chances of mounting a surprise playoff push in Year 3 of Matt Rhule’s reign.

If McCaffrey has another great year this season, Stewart’s reign might end.

However, respect is due when it’s deserved.

Stewart is the best starter the Panthers have had at running back. Even though that might change in the not-too-distant future.

Honorable mentions: DeAngelo Williams, Christian McCaffrey
