Greg Olsen – Former Carolina Panthers TE

The trade for Greg Olsen in 2011 is possibly the best in franchise history and it’s hard to envision any of the Carolina Panthers’ success during this prolific decade without the tight end coming on board.

Olsen immediately became fan-favorite in Carolina and was the first tight end in NFL history to record three consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards while with the team. Production that had not been seen at the position before within the Panthers and something that also elevated the likes of Cam Newton to greater heights as a result.

During his time with the Panthers, Olsen was a three-time Pro Bowler and worked his way all the way up to the third-most receiving yards in team history. After leaving the organization for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 free agency, the veteran left a gaping hole that has yet to be filled.

Unfortunately, Olsen’s career couldn’t end in a Carolina uniform but he will be a Pro Football Hall of Famer once he is eligible. It’s also been refreshing to see him carving out a hugely successful career for himself in the booth as part of the FOX Sports team, which is a testament to his passion and overall knowledge of the game.
