Finally having some clarity about how the Carolina Panthers planned to utilize Brady Christensen long-term was all the 2021 third-round selection was probably looking for. This thankfully arrived when those in power got a huge stroke of luck and managed to take Ikem Ekwonu at No. 6 overall during the draft.

Ekwonu is an instant problem-solver that has franchise left tackle written all over him. Something that should now allow Christensen to begin refining his skills along the interior with a view to potentially winning the starting left guard job.

There was enough to suggest Christensen could be a useful starter. The former BYU standout would also have plenty of quality around him if he did win the job.

Christensen has even been taking snaps at the center position during OTAs. This is probably with the long-term in mind and something else to keep an eye on down the road.

As for now, Christensen will look to stake his claim and beat out the likes of Pat Elflein, Cam Erving, Cade Mays, and Deonte Brown. If he cannot do this, then it will cast doubts about his potential as a starter despite this only being his second season in a professional environment.
