Robbie Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

  • Dead-cap figure – $9.71 million
  • Cap savings – $12 million

After the Carolina Panthers opted to keep Robbie Anderson around rather than trade the wide receiver, this season is one of critical importance. His production dipped significantly during a disappointing second campaign with the franchise and it’s vital for the Temple product to get himself back to the form of old sooner rather than later.

Anderson was around for the earlier stages of offseason workouts but skipped the voluntary portion of OTAs for the second-straight year. Something that isn’t ideal, but the wideout is experienced enough to understand what it takes to get himself in peak physical condition for training camp.

The Panthers restructured Anderson’s deal once again this offseason, meaning he is set to count a whopping $21.71 million against the cap in 2023. If the player continues to regress, it will be hard to justify keeping him on the books with such a huge financial commitment.

Hopefully, Anderson will respond to adversity in the correct fashion and become the player we saw make huge strides throughout his opening season with the Panthers in 2020. But this will also be dependent on just who is distributing the football under center.

Anderson appears highly motivated judging by his social media posts. If things don’t work out, then the Panthers can either trade the receiver or release him entirely with a cap saving of $12 million, even though the dead cap figure stands at $9.71 million.
