Carolina Panthers signed Austin Corbett

A refreshing shift in approach from the Carolina Panthers saw the organization rightfully prioritize the offensive line after another torrid campaign from everyone outside of Taylor Moton in 2021. If these new recruits hit the ground running and get on the same page, then this group should be much-improved under the experienced eye of James Campen.

It didn’t take long for the Panthers to strengthen their interior, with Austin Corbett‘s arrival representing a significant coup for the franchise on a three-year, $26.25 million deal that included a $9.76 million signing bonus and $19.6 million guaranteed. The former second-round pick has proven production and played a significant role in the Los Angeles Rams winning the Super Bowl last time around – credentials that Carolina hasn’t possessed at the right guard position since Trai Turner was traded.

Corbett is a dominating presence against the run and holds his own in pass protection. This is a monumental upgrade on John Miller, a struggling veteran that gave up seven sacks and offered little in the way of accountability last year.

Moton now has a dependable teammate alongside him on the right-hand side. The Panthers also managed to get themselves a talented center in Bradley Bozeman and drafted a franchise left tackle in Ikem Ekwonu to further bolster protection that was lackluster at best in 2021.

If Corbett can integrate himself quickly and display the same form we saw from the player in Los Angeles, he will be worth every cent.
