What bold predictions can be made regarding the Carolina Panthers’ rookie class during a hugely important 2022 season for the team?

The Carolina Panthers got some real bang for their buck during the 2022 NFL Draft. They didn’t have much in the way of capital to play with, but staying patient and striking with conviction left them with a nice haul following another entertaining selection process.

Some will obviously be expected to contribute more than others. But at the same time, the more Panthers rookies that can make their presence felt next season, the better their chances will be.

Those brought to Carolina via the draft and undrafted free agency have been learning throughout the early offseason period. What transpires in training camp will be pivotal to their aspirations, so it’s going to be interesting to witness how each first-year player grows before the real action begins.

Without further ado, we took a look at the Panthers’ draft class and made one bold prediction for each selection.

  • Become a core special teams player in Week 1

Betting on high athletic traits is something that the Carolina Panthers like to do later on in the draft. Most have worked out since Scott Fitterer became general manager and Kalon Barnes is another that could fall into this category when it’s all said and done.

Barnes turned in one of the fastest-ever 40-yard dash times at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. The player also has experience working under Matt Rhule previously from their time together at Baylor.

Asking Barnes to slot in on the cornerback rotation right away would be unrealistic. However, his blazing speed and athleticism could mean he becomes a core special teams figure right out of the gate.
