Cade Mays – Carolina Panthers OL

  • Start 3-4 games in 2022

Cade Mays is a no-nonsense offensive lineman that represented a solid value selection at No. 199 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Carolina Panthers worked tirelessly to improve their protection throughout the offseason and the Tennessee product brings a lot of nice traits that can be developed into something more in a professional environment.

Nobody is expecting Mays to immediately fill a starting gig. Besides, there appears to only be one spot that has legitimate competition based on the acquisitions Carolina made this spring.

Providing Mays can improve his pass protection and become a little quicker getting into his stance, then he is a virtual lock to make the 53-man roster. Considering how injuries normally take their toll on the offensive line, there could be a chance to see prominent reps at some stage in 2022.

Obviously, this is dependent on how quickly Mays picks things up under the watchful eye of offensive line coach James Campen. Moving ahead of some underperforming veterans currently on the depth chart would also enhance his chances considerably.

If the Panthers like what they see from Mays and remain confident in his ability, then he could be a primary backup, at the very least. He also has the versatility to play almost anywhere across the line of scrimmage, which is something Carolina values extremely highly.
