Carolina Panthers select Bryce Young
- Quarterback | Alabama
If the Carolina Panthers are picking at No. 6 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, the chances are things haven’t gone well during the season. Something that is not without possibility considering how tough things look on the schedule.
Any more failings could also spell the end for head coach Matt Rhule. So there are plenty of factors in play regarding the next offseason and the ramifications it might bring.
With that being said, the Panthers might explore the possibility of finding another long-term quarterback via a very strong draft class. They did trade up for Matt Corral this year, so much will depend on how the Ole Miss product develops under the watchful eyes of Ben McAdoo and Sean Ryan.
Should Bryce Young still be available for the Panthers, it would be hard to turn down. The Heisman Trophy winner might be a little undersized, but his production for Alabama in 2021 was nothing short of exceptional and came within touching distance of a memorable national championship triumph for good measure.
Young is accurate, boasts elite footwork, and can make things happen out of nothing. Something the Panthers haven’t had since Cam Newton was at the peak of his powers.
In an ideal world, Corral will be the team’s starter on a cheap deal. But if those in power aren’t convinced or a new regime has different ideas, Young would arguably be top of the shortlist.
