4 pros and cons to the Carolina Panthers signing Dee Ford

Dee Ford would bring Pro Bowl capabilities to the Carolina Panthers
It’s been a long time since Dee Ford performed at a Pro Bowl level. But having plenty of time to rest and recuperate means there could be some life in his production yet providing there are no further ailments to come once he finds a new team.
Ford took the league by storm with 13 sacks for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. If the Carolina Panthers got him into the organization and didn’t put too much on his shoulders, then he could be a primary figure in any success that comes their way next time around.
This is a player with 40 career sacks, after all. Ford also has a real nous for creating turnovers, something that is reflected in the 12 forced fumbles generated throughout his rollercoaster career so far.
Perhaps Ford would be looking for a contending team at this stage of his career. Something the Panthers are unlikely to provide unless a monumental surge forward collectively transpires in 2022.
Ford also has the versatility to play either as a defensive end or standing up as an outside linebacker. A trait that the Panthers value highly in their new recruits and another element to this potential move that might bring mutual benefits.
Getting Ford back to his Pro Bowl form is a long shot. But if he is extra motivated to prove his doubters wrong, it cannot be ruled out entirely.
