There was reportedly some trade interest in Robbie Anderson despite a dismal 2021 campaign from the wide receiver. Talks between the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots didn’t emerge with anything concrete, which means the former Temple star gets a chance to bounce back next season.

Anderson has already proven capable of putting up significant numbers. One only has to look at his first campaign in Carolina to see that.

However, there was something amiss with the wideout last time around. There were some individual errors and Anderson also failed to develop any chemistry with quarterback Sam Darnold despite their previous relationship on the New York Jets.

Whether Darnold will be under center in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns remains in doubt. But whether it’s him or not, Anderson has to get on the same page with whoever is manning the plate to get himself back to the level needed.

If a motivated Anderson enjoys a bounce-back season in 2021, then it will increase interest in a possible trade. There is the $21.73 million cap hit to factor into the equation, which would save the Panthers $12 million if a willing suitor was found.
