Carolina Panthers could target Emmanuel Sanders
Emmanuel Sanders has been around some winning organizations throughout his career. He also played to a relatively high level for the Buffalo Bills in 2021 despite being 34 years old at the time.
Age is obviously catching up with the veteran wideout. But if the Carolina Panthers are forced to explore alternative options if Robbie Anderson retires, then this represents a solid acquisition that can have benefits both on and off the field.
Sanders is a consistent presence across the middle that can also stretch the field when required. His 51 career touchdowns are also evidence that the SMU product can find the red zone in key situations.
Asking Sanders to come in and fill starting reps at this stage of his career would be unrealistic. But there is nothing to suggest he cannot produce the goods on a rotational basis providing Terrace Marshall Jr. takes a big leap forward in Year 2.
All this speculation surrounding Anderson is something the wideout brought on himself. However, walking away from a significant amount of money and with a big point to prove just doesn’t seem realistic, even if it is something to monitor.
If the worst-case scenario happens, then picking up Sanders on a one-year deal is a possibility to consider.
