Carolina Panthers are lucky to have Scott Fitterer as GM

Carolina Panthers fans may not have thought before the draft that they could pull off getting their franchise left tackle in Ikem Ekwonu at No. 6 overall and still manage to secure a good-value quarterback in Matt Corral. But this occurred thanks in no small part to the presence of Scott Fitterer.

The general manager has been in his element this offseason and it’s something that really came across again during the draft. Throughout the Panthers Confidential video, Fitterer seemed poised and confident about leading the charge throughout the entire draft process.

Fitterer and Matt Rhule clearly have a good working relationship and are pulling in the same direction. There has been the odd miss along the way, but one cannot look at the team’s recruitment throughout the offseason with anything other than encouragement.

Of course, letting Haason Reddick leave in free agency is something that could come back to haunt them. But if Fitterer and Rhule can continue to grow and the team puts together a solid season in 2022, the organization should only trend upward from there.

Ever since Fitterer arrived, Panthers fans seem to feel much more confident in the team’s ability to draft and sign competent players throughout the free-agent market. For all David Tepper’s faults during his time as owner, landing the former front office figure with the Seattle Seahawks was one of his best moves so far without question.
