Carolina Panthers remain confident in Robbie Anderson
Things might have gone disappointingly for Robbie Anderson in 2021, but the Carolina Panthers remain confident in the wide receiver. It’s been an offseason full of drama for the Temple product, who had to deal with some trade rumors and a potential retirement tweet that the player claimed was just simply “thinking out loud”.
Anderson also remained steadfast in his opinion surrounding a potential trade for Baker Mayfield, throwing his support behind quarterback Sam Darnold despite the two failing to develop any real chemistry last season.
The introduction of Ben McAdoo as the team’s new offensive coordinator is a massive positive for Anderson. One that head coach Matt Rhule believes can see the wideout return to something like his 2020 form.
"“I think that if Robbie has the great training camp he’s capable of, I really believe this offense is perfect for him. I think he’ll have a ton of production. One of the things in hiring Ben, one of the things for me that was really important was I don’t want to just utilize one or two players.”"
Anderson didn’t do much on Wednesday due to hip soreness. So it would be a surprise to see him involved on the final day of practice with training camp in Spartanburg just around the corner.
Providing Anderson gets on the same page with McAdoo and whoever is under center, his ability to get open quickly and how he stretches the field will be a tremendous asset for the former New York Giants head coach to utilize.
