Who could emerge as potential X-factors for the Carolina Panthers during a make-or-break 2022 season for the organization?

After a significant period of underachievement in recent years, it’s vital for the Carolina Panthers to show some sort of improvement in 2022. That’ll be easier said than done on a tough-looking schedule and with questions surrounding the quarterback position, but there is enough talent across the board to produce a few memorable moments, at the very least.

It needs to be a collective effort if the Panthers want to reach some attainable objectives in the third year of Matt Rhule’s stint as head coach. Spirits have been high throughout offseason workouts so far, although the mood is likely to change once the team meets up for what’s sure to be an intense training camp in the Spartanburg heat.

Realistically speaking, Carolina’s fortunes are hanging in the balance. But if a few members of the roster or coaching staff can raise their contributions, then they might have a chance of becoming a surprise package, however unlikely that may seem.

With this in mind, here are five potential X-factors that could emerge for the Panthers in 2022.

X-factor No. 1

Carolina Panthers

Ben McAdoo – Carolina Panthers OC

The appointment of Ben McAdoo has the potential to completely shift the course for a Carolina Panthers offense that was inept at best in 2021. His previous experience and eye for talent have been prominent throughout the offseason period so far and if this translates into a game-day setting, then progression is sure to follow.

McAdoo is looking to revive his own career from a prominent play-calling position after things turned sour quickly as head coach of the New York Giants. There is a lot of talent across the offense and the protection should improve, but it will be his task to put the right plan in place for a successful campaign.

If McAdoo can achieve this lofty goal, then his arrival at the organization will be worth its weight in gold.
