Frankie Luvu – Carolina Panthers LB

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers have had little cheer at the linebacker spot lately. One such cause for celebration was Frankie Luvu, who made the biggest of impressions following his free-agent arrival from the New York Jets last spring.

Luvu was a relentless force when on the field and also thrived as a special teamer. Something that did not go unnoticed by the Panthers, who wisely handed the Washington State product a new deal this offseason to prevent him from hitting the market.

There is also a high chance Luvu can earn the starting outside linebacker job vacated by Haason Reddick, who left in free agency for the Philadelphia Eagles. And as we saw last season, when opportunity knocks the player does everything in his power to make it a reality.

It would be a big disappointment if Luvu didn’t become more influential next season. His energy and ability to inspire others around him will be a real asset.

If Luvu can build on last season’s momentum, a special campaign could be in the offing next time around.

Of course, the prospect of Luvu regressing with additional responsibilities is possible. But the player has the right attitude to ensure the complications – if any come around – will be minimal.
