Robbie Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

After regressing considerably during the 2021 season, Robbie Anderson remains on the Carolina Panthers despite rumors of a potential trade elsewhere. The wide receiver drew interest from the New England Patriots without anything going further than preliminary discussions and a contract restructure meant he’d still be part of the plans for the upcoming campaign.

Anderson’s tweet about retiring was retracted by the wideout and after skipping voluntary OTAs, the Temple product made his return to Carolina’s mandatory minicamp. Even if he was less than enthused about it based on his comments during media availability.

I’m here, ain’t I?

Not exactly the strongest indication of commitment. But Anderson is professional enough to turn it on when push comes to shove providing his individual errors decrease and better chemistry is developed with whoever the Panthers choose to go with under center.

However, if Anderson struggles in training camp and the likes of Terrace Marshall Jr. demonstrate significant progress, then the Panthers might end up reconsidering trading the veteran if the right offer comes along.

Trading Anderson makes little financial sense with a dead-cap figure of more than $9 million according to Over the Cap. But if the player also wishes to move on, then a middle ground could be found in this scenario.
