Which remaining free agents should the Carolina Panthers consider signing to boost competition during their upcoming 2022 training camp?

The Carolina Panthers are now enjoying a period of downtime before they descend on Wofford College for an important training camp. Veterans and rookies will come together again in Spartanburg for a vital few weeks from July 26, hopefully putting the right building blocks in place to hit the ground running in 2022.

This is always a time of year for hope no matter how poorly things went last season. The Panthers have also made some excellent additions to the roster throughout the free agency and 2022 NFL Draft periods to further heighten expectations.

However, there are a couple of areas that could use some additional reinforcements. There is the ongoing question about whether or not Matt Rhule is the correct figurehead to lead Carolina back to prominence.

With this in mind, here are five remaining free agents that the Panthers could sign for increased camp competition in 2022.

Carolina Panthers could sign Kyle Rudolph

Standing firm at the tight end position was a calculated risk by the Carolina Panthers this offseason. One that piles on extra pressure on new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo in pursuit of bringing more out of Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble when competitive action arrives.

If the Panthers want to bring in another veteran that could emerge as a solid option, then Kyle Rudolph is worth a look. The former Notre Dame standout is an exceptional blocker who has always been a reliable target across the middle and in the red zone, even if his one season with the New York Giants didn’t quite go according to plan.

Rudolph came up with some memorable moments on the Minnesota Vikings and is a supreme leader within the locker room. Something that could assist Thomas and Tremble ahead of an important few months for the duo.
