Which Carolina Panthers players could emerge as surprising candidates to make the 53-man roster in 2022?

With training camp now just a few short weeks away, the Carolina Panthers are already looking at finalizing their 53-man roster ahead of the 2022 season. There is a lot at stake for the team and most starting places are locked up, but Spartanburg will see some less-hearlded players come to the fore and give those in power plenty to discuss.

One or two always push their way into the team’s plans. That’s the case league-wide and the Panthers have some talent that could do the same if everything comes together for them in practice and whatever impact they can make in preseason games.

Carolina cannot afford to make many more errors in terms of personnel. Three consecutive five-win seasons has the fanbase extremely restless and considering how tough things look on the schedule, getting every decision correct is the only way this organization will move forward in a positive fashion.

Without further ado, here are five surprising candidates to make Carolina’s 53-man roster in 2022.

Dennis Daley – Carolina Panthers OL

Dennis Daley is entering his fourth year with the Carolina Panthers and finds himself on this list because of some inconsistent play that was devoid of any discipline in 2021. The interior offensive lineman just didn’t look interested more often than not, but the coaching staff still believes he’s worth one more shot in training camp this summer.

Nobody would have cared too much if Daley has been released with one year remaining on his deal. But everything must go right for the South Carolina product given how well the Panthers strengthened their protection during the offseason.

Things don’t look particularly encouraging for Daley from the outside looking in. However, the fact he’s still around is a strong indication that Carolina’s staff might not be willing to throw in the towel just yet.
