Christian McCaffrey is back (again)

Perhaps the level of excitement surrounding Christian McCaffrey‘s return to full health once again is now more in hope than expectation. The Carolina Panthers were in the exact same situation in 2021 and although the early signs were promising, the running back turned out just seven times after a series of issues that severely complicated matters.

McCaffrey is a pivotal part of the team’s plans. He’s also been relied upon far too heavily by the Panthers, who had no Plan B whatsoever when the All-Pro went to the sidelines once again.

The introduction of Ben McAdoo should assist McCaffrey with maximizing touches. It’s also apparent that the player is altering the way he approaches his own preparation to remain healthy for a prolonged period.

Despite some talent at the skill positions and the signing of D’Onta Foreman in free agency, the Panthers will only go as far as McCaffrey takes them. Something that will remain the case until a competent quarterback is found.

Fans are right to be excited but also nervous about McCaffrey’s return. This is a vitally important season for the former first-round pick out of Stanford, who will face some serious questions about his long-term future with the franchise if he misses considerable time for the third-straight year.
