Robbie Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

Aside from Sam Darnold, Robbie Anderson is seemingly the only member of the Carolina Panthers who didn’t want the team to upgrade at the position. The wide receiver has been very vocal this offseason about his feeling regarding Baker Mayfield, which he’s now backtracked on after the trade was confirmed.

The reasoning behind Anderson’s disinterest is unknown. It is odd for the receiver to voice his displeasure with the idea considering his disappointing season with Cam Newton and Sam Darnold under center.

One would think Anderson would be supportive of the idea of improving the position that directly dictates his level of success.

The situation is odd and could suggest Anderson is on his way out of Carolina. The Temple product has two years left on his deal and could be moved if the Panthers believe he will be unable to thrive with Mayfield manning the plate.

While this move could help Anderson’s career in the short term, there is no question he has been put in an uncomfortable position due to his offseason comments.

Perhaps it is simply loyalty to Darnold, who he has spent a large part of his career with. Or maybe it is simply a dislike for the former Browns quarterback.

Regardless, the trade has put Anderson and Mayfield into a potentially uncomfortable conversation in training camp.
