Robbie Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

While it could be argued that Robbie Anderson might be a loser in this situation, trading for Baker Mayfield is something the wide receiver needs to embrace ahead of an important 2022 campaign.

Things did not go according to plan for the Temple product last time around, which stemmed from individual mistakes and a distinct lack of chemistry with Sam Darnold that boiled over onto the sidelines on occasion. This has to improve next time around.

Anderson claims he was trying to defend Darnold when making his feelings about Mayfield’s potential arrival known on social media earlier this spring. The wideout came out on Wednesday saying there is no problem, but it’ll be interesting to see how the two polarizing figures coexist moving forward.

The sooner these two influential players on offense manage to gel, the better Carolina’s chances will be. It’s also a big year for Anderson in pursuit of proving his doubters wrong after some career-low numbers across the board in 2021.

This could be a match made in heaven if both parties approach it with the right attitude. Although the potential complications that could emerge are also evident.

This is a high-risk trade that could be significant rewards. Anderson might be the player that benefits most if everything goes well, which could mean the Carolina Panthers keep him and his $21.71 million cap number around in 2023.
