Carolina Panthers select Rakim Jarrett

  • Wide Receiver | Maryland

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers might need another wide receiver next season. Robbie Anderson is due a hefty cap figure and the likes of Terrace Marshall Jr. must also make substantial strides in Ben McAdoo’s scheme with Baker Mayfield distributing the football.

There are perhaps bigger priorities, obviously. But expect the Panthers to delve into the receiver pool once these complications have been resolved.

Maryland has produced some outstanding wide receivers over the years. Carolina is blessed to possess one such figure in the form of D.J. Moore, who remains a model of consistency and was paid handsomely for his contribution to the team overall this offseason.

Rakim Jarrett is the latest hot prospect set to make waves once he departs the Terrapins for the NFL. His production took a huge leap forward in 2021 en route to 62 receptions, 829 receiving yards, and five touchdowns, so scouts across the league will be watching his progress closely next time around.

Jarrett is quick, elusive, and has strong hands. Providing he can work on getting out of his cuts a little sharper, this has all the makings of a solid piece for any team.

Hopefully, Mayfield’s presence can get more from those that were virtually non-existent last season. If they fail to deliver, then the Panthers will no doubt explore alternatives.
