4 biggest problems Baker Mayfield must overcome in 2022

What are some problems that Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield must overcome following his trade from the Cleveland Browns?
The Carolina Panthers took another major roll of the dice by acquiring Baker Mayfield via trade from the Cleveland Browns. Many across the media and within the fanbase see this as a band-aid solution to an ongoing complication, although the organization did secure themselves a potential franchise quarterback long-term in the form of Matt Corral during the 2022 NFL Draft.
Considering the compensation involved, this was a good deal for the Panthers. It also provides Mayfield with an immediate chance of starting again after the Browns pulled the plug on his time under center after securing the services of Deshaun Watson.
The outlook could be extremely positive for Mayfield. But there are a number of hurdles to overcome for the Oklahoma product to shine in a different environment.
With this in mind, here are four big problems that Mayfield must tackle before and during the 2022 season.
Problem No. 1
Baker Mayfield must win over the fans
There are more than a few fans that remain skeptical about this trade almost a week after it was confirmed. And in all honesty, nobody is blaming them after what’s transpired throughout Matt Rhule’s time as head coach.
The Carolina Panthers have yet to find the right solution under center after deciding to release Cam Newton in 2020. Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, and P.J. Walker all failed to produce the goods, so it’s now up to Baker Mayfield to take charge and provide the spark needed.
Mayfield can get his doubters onside with a smooth transition, being consistent in a competitive setting, and displaying the right attitude. That’s all fans will be hoping for after years of abject failure.
