Jameis Winston
This was a coin flip between Jameis Winston and Baker Mayfield. But considering the former Florida State stud is coming off a significant injury and has been incredibly erratic throughout his career, the New Orleans Saints quarterback ends up at No. 3.
Winston had a big opportunity awaiting him in 2021 as the starter in New Orleans following Drew Brees’ retirement. It was an average start that also included a disappointing display against the Carolina Panthers, but things got much worse for the signal-caller soon after.
Fortune did not favor Winston whatsoever after a serious knee injury cut his campaign short after just seven games. What made things worse is that everything was just starting to click into place for the quarterback, who had a 5-2 record, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions at the time.
The Saints decided to keep faith with Winston rather than reach for a quarterback this year. He’s worked exceptionally hard on getting back to full health and deserves another shot at redemption after the No. 1 overall selection in 2015 was cast aside by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Few will ever forget Winston’s 2019 season where he threw for 5,000 yards, 33 touchdowns, and a whopping 30 interceptions. But there were signs of a more disciplined approach to his production in a different system last time around and working alongside Brees in 2020 no doubt taught him a tremendous amount.
