Carolina Panthers could make another trade

Nobody could ever accuse Scott Fitterer of sitting on his hands and waiting for success. The general manager has been beyond bold with his moves since joining the Carolina Panthers, with Baker Mayfield’s arrival the latest in a series of trades that have come with mixed production so far.

In fairness to the Panthers, they got good value for Mayfield providing he can put last season’s problems in the rearview mirror. But if things are teetering on the brink for Carolina before the trade deadline, then Fitterer will once again be working the phones regarding potential incomings before the business end of the campaign.

Throwing in the towel has never been in Fitterer’s mindset. If things don’t work out in 2022, then the big changes will likely occur once the slate concludes.

Until then, Fitterer will keep swinging. The “in on every deal” quote during his introductory press conference has come to fruition so far and if he feels like there’s a deal to be done that can benefit the Panthers, then the former Seattle Seahawks front office figure will strike with conviction.

This also applies to outgoings, too. A dismal start will likely see many calling for change, which could see Fitterer and other influential members of the organization look to move certain players in exchange for valuable draft capital.
