Even though Brandon Zylstra is a little older than others on this list, he remains a surprise package as there is just no telling what the wide receiver could be capable of with substantial targets coming his way.
Whether they arrive with the Carolina Panthers in 2022 remains to be seen. But Zylstra proved his dependability last season when more established figures with bigger expectations were fluffing their lines in the passing game.
Zylstra has a 70.7 percent catch success rate since joining the Panthers in 2020. This has resulted in just 391 receiving yards and one touchdown, but a player with this sort of consistency should be a superb fit within Ben McAdoo’s system providing he can beat out others in training camp.
Another area where Zylstra excels is on special teams, which is valued highly by the Panthers and something that should guarantee his place on the 53-man roster unless something drastic occurs in Spartanburg.
The former CFL standout will be looking to stake a much bigger claim and should be full of confidence given how he performed in 2021. However, an uphill task awaits Zylstra with Terrace Marshall Jr., D.J. Moore, Robbie Anderson, and perhaps even Rashard Higgins ahead of him on the depth chart currently.
