Christian McCaffrey is arguably the best player on the Carolina Panthers roster. If the running back is able to sustain the durability he possessed over his first three NFL seasons, then a backfield partnership with Baker Mayfield should become a force.

McCaffrey gives the offense so much versatility in the run and pass game, and with a bolstered up offensive line, his numbers could be as good as they’ve ever been. With that being said, the organization may try to decrease his usage in an attempt to keep him healthy.

Mayfield is a more accurate quarterback than Sam Darnold, which could lead to additional targets and opportunities for McCaffrey to be a major factor in the passing game. Any time it is third down, the signal-caller getting the ball to the league’s best dual-threat back is most likely the teams best course of action.

McCaffrey is more than capable of having success on the ground in between the tackles or getting the ball and bouncing it to the outside. But keeping the former first-round selection fresh should be the Panthers’ biggest priority.

The last season McCaffrey was healthy, he put up eye opening numbers where he tallied 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in 2019. He did that with less than average quarterback play.

McCaffrey is definitely a player that will help Mayfield shine. As long as he stays healthy, the two should have a lot of success together.
