5 key players that can help Baker Mayfield shine on the Panthers

Rashard Higgins – Carolina Panthers WR

This player may come as a surprise to some fans, but Rashard Higgins and Baker Mayfield have been teammates for the last four seasons on the Cleveland Browns. They already possess established chemistry and have connected on 10 touchdowns throughout the last four campaigns.

Higgins began his career in Cleveland when he was drafted as a fifth-round selection in 2016 out of Colorado State. The wideout went on to appear in every game for the Browns that season recording only six receptions and 77 receiving yards.

Higgins isn’t necessarily a player that’s going to go out and complete a 1,000 yard receiving season with 10 touchdowns. He could be a player that is on the field on third down and be a very reliable target for Mayfield.

His best season came in 2020 which coincidentally was Mayfield’s best year, too. Higgins recorded 37 receptions with 599 receiving yards and four touchdowns in only 13 games played.

This will be Higgins and Mayfield’s first season with the Carolina Panthers. Both could get started on the right foot by applying their previous chemistry on the field in Cleveland within a different system.

Higgins is definitely a player to watch in 2022 when it comes to helping Mayfield shine following his high-profile trade.
