Carolina Panthers could target Khalen Saunders

  • Defensive Tackle | Kansas City Chiefs

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers could use some additional depth on their defensive line. Whether it’s on the edge or on the interior remains to be seen, so it’ll be interesting to witness some young stars with potential coming to the fore in training camp.

If the coaching staff isn’t convinced by what they see early at Wofford College, then it could see them delve into the trade market if the right deal becomes realistic. Someone like Khalen Saunders might be an option and should cost nothing more than a late Day 3 pick if he cannot impress for the Kansas City Chiefs in the coming weeks.

Saunders has flashed promise throughout his time in the league so far. However, some unlucky injuries have hindered his progression and seen others move ahead of the Western Illinois product on the defensive tackle depth chart.

On his day, Saunders can wreak havoc. But chances have been few and far between for the third-round pick, who’s featured just 10 times over the last two seasons and has a stiff task ahead of him this summer.

Carolina might be happy with what they have, for now at least. If that changes, then Saunders could be a low-risk, high-reward option.
