Ranking the 5 most intimidating Panthers players in franchise history
By Jason Huber
Reggie White – Former Carolina Panthers DL
- 2000
Had Reggie White spent more than one lone season with the Carolina Panthers, he’d probably be No. 1 on this list. The imposing defensive lineman only spent the final campaign of his Pro Football Hall of Fame career with the organization and statistically, it was his worst, even though it was very solid.
Throughout 15 seasons, White was one of the most intimidating players in league history. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year compiled double-digit sacks in all but three seasons and ranks second all-time in sacks with 198.
White could take over a game on the defensive line and was one of the most pivotal pieces in helping Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl in 1997.
As an ordained Evangelical minister, White was nicknamed “The Minister of Defense” and lived up to that title. He started all 16 games during his time with the Panthers in 2000, racking up 5.5 sacks and five tackles for loss after coming out of retirement.
Unfortunately, Carolina only got to have White around for one season. But there’s no doubt he was still feared during that time.
