Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT
The production demonstrated by Bravvion Roy during his first two seasons has been better than anticipated from a sixth-round pick. It’s unlikely that the former Baylor man will ever become a dominant starter with the Carolina Panthers, but there’s nothing to suggest the defensive tackle cannot become a prominent rotational piece once again in 2022.
Roy turned out in 31 percent of defensive snaps last season. This saw the player rack up 30 tackles, two passes defended, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, three pressures, and a less than stellar 47.6 grade from Pro Football Focus.
With Phil Hoskins and Daviyon Nixon looking for additional reps after flashing during their rookie campaigns, the onus will be on Roy to keep them at bay and become the first-choice backup to projected starting duo Derrick Brown and Matt Ioannidis.
Easier said than done, obviously. But Roy is a former college player of Matt Rhule’s, which is known to help when it comes to earning time on the field based on the previous two seasons under his leadership.
Nixon is also taking some time to get back following a serious knee injury suffered last season. Something that could give Roy’s chances another shot in the arm if the Iowa product isn’t 100 percent right out of the gate.
