4 former Carolina Panthers players looking for revenge in 2022
By Dean Jones
Which former Carolina Panthers players could be looking for revenge against their old employers during the 2022 season?
Looking at the 2022 schedule, the Carolina Panthers face an uphill battle for improvements based on the standard of teams they’ll come up against. A fast start is absolutely vital for Matt Rhule’s men, which can hopefully provide enough momentum for some testing fixtures midway through the campaign and especially down the stretch.
The Panthers managed five wins for the third-straight season in 2021. Deafening calls for change were not answered by team owner David Tepper, who remains confident that Rhule is the guy that can lead this organization back to prominence despite plenty of evidence suggesting otherwise.
It will be fascinating to see things unfold. There are also plenty of notable storylines to keep a close eye on with varying implications attached.
With this in mind, here are four former Panthers players who’ll be on the lookout for revenge in 2022.
Player No. 1
Dean Marlowe – Former Carolina Panthers S
Dean Marlowe certainly left the Carolina Panthers feeling aggrieved that he didn’t get a fair shake. After featuring just five times over his first two seasons in the league, the safety began to show the organization exactly what they were missing by emerging as a solid rotational piece with the Buffalo Bills from 2018-20 with some eye-catching performances for a team on the rise.
This was enough for the Detroit Lions to swoop soon after the free agency period got underway/. Although Marlowe’s stay in the NFC North was short-lived, he is expected to become a prominent figure within the Atlanta Falcons unless something drastic occurs in training camp.
Marlowe will be coming up against his old employers twice during the campaign, which should be all the motivation he needs in a different environment.
