5 exciting Carolina Panthers storylines to watch in 2022 training camp
Who will become Carolina Panthers RB2?
Finally, Christian McCaffrey is healthy and ready to resume his role as the featured skill player on offense. When healthy, he is one of the top playmakers in the NFL – one who literally do it all when in the right mood.
However, the days of operating with a single running back in this league are long gone and the competition to be McCaffrey’s primary backup is quite enticing. Chuba Hubbard and D’Onta Foreman will battle it out during training camp, which should be fascinating to witness throughout an intense few weeks before the Carolina Panthers get their season underway.
Foreman is an eye-catching arrival who performed well for the Tennessee Titans filling in for Derrick Henry in 2021. His powerful running style and ability to break off big yardage could be useful behind an offensive line set for major improvements.
On the other end, the former fourth-rounder out of Oklahoma State is entering his sophomore season with 172 rushes for 612 yards and five rushing touchdowns paired alongside 25 receptions and one receiving score.
Freeman and Hubbard bring different skill sets to the table. One is quicker and can turn the corner outside while the other is built like a bowling ball going up the middle.
One suspects Foreman will win this job based on their previous production. But this will be a storyline to monitor closely.
