4 things Panthers QB Baker Mayfield must show in 2022 camp

Baker Mayfield must pick up Carolina Panthers’ playbook quickly
Now that the trade has finally been confirmed, Baker Mayfield has a significant task on his hands picking up Ben McAdoo’s offense in training camp. This represents a steep challenge for the quarterback, but he’s already proven more than capable of overcoming adversity throughout an eventful college and pro career to date.
McAdoo’s pre-draft assessment of Mayfield was less than complimentary. However, this has probably been blown out of all proportion and the offensive coordinator’s perception of the player might have changed dramatically after four seasons in the league.
The Carolina Panthers need Mayfield and McAdoo on the same page. There should be a much improved offensive line to work behind and getting Christian McCaffrey back to full health is another major boost with positive implications.
At least from the outside looking in, Mayfield looks like a solid scheme fit. His mobility will be a real asset and should provide Carolina’s primary playmakers with every chance of thriving with another new man under center.
There is a chance things go wrong with two big personalities. But if things click into place immediately, then the 2022 season could be a road to redemption for the pair at just the right time.
