Robbie Anderson becomes Carolina Panthers camp MVP

Much has been made of Robbie Anderson‘s mindset throughout the offseason. The wide receiver made his feelings about Baker Mayfield’s arrival known before backtracking, he skipped voluntary workouts once again and even contemplated retirement to raise further doubts about his commitment.

The Carolina Panthers fielded calls regarding Anderson’s availability via trade this offseason before deciding to keep faith with the former Temple star. But the player needs to show out in training camp and when the real action arrives to prove his doubters wrong.

Anderson is experienced enough to know what’s at stake. There is also a high chance he’ll be cut in 2023 if things don’t improve given that the wideout will count $21.7 million against the salary cap on the final year of his deal.

The talent is there. But things didn’t click due to individual errors and a lack of chemistry with quarterback Sam Darnold almost from start to finish.

With Mayfield now on board and likely to start, Anderson has to put any preconceived notions he has about the signal-caller to the back of his mind and focus on improving. If the receiver can do this, then there’s every chance he’ll emerge as one of the team’s standout camp performers when it’s all said and done.
