Which individual matchups is it worth keeping a close eye on when the Carolina Panthers formally get their 2022 training camp underway?

We are now just two days away from the Carolina Panthers participating in their first training camp practice at Wofford College. There are so many storylines for fans to watch ahead of the new campaign, which promises to be a crossroads one for head coach Matt Rhule after accumulating 10 wins over his first two years in the role.

Players on the fringes will be fighting for depth chart positions and more established figures within the Panthers are sure to be going all-out to further enhance their importance. There also appears to be added competition for places across the board, which was the primary objective of general manager Scott Fitterer this offseason.

This all adds to the fascination. And there will be plenty of fans watching from the famous grassy hill or during Back Together Saturday and Fan Fest that marks the official conclusion of camp.

With that being said, here are four individual matchups that fans should monitor closely over the coming weeks.

Derrick Brown vs. Austin Corbett

This is a crucial upcoming campaign for Derrick Brown. The Carolina Panthers are expecting the former first-round selection to take a significant leap forward in Year 3 and going up against Austin Corbett in training camp will be more than sufficient preparation to achieve these objectives.

Corbett was a big-money signing in free agency that arrives on the back of a Super Bowl-winning season with the Los Angeles Rams. He’ll be looking to stamp his mark in a different environment and his matchup versus Brown is sure to be a solid measuring stick regarding his fortunes in 2022.

Neither player will be giving an inch in this one. Something that could help the Panthers exponentially next season.
