Which Carolina Panthers players could exceed expectations during the team’s upcoming training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg?

Players and staff are familiarizing themselves in Spartanburg for what promises to be another Carolina Panthers training camp not to miss. Something that represents another significant milestone for the group ahead of the 2022 season.

This is normally the time of year when things get a little more serious. Voluntary workouts and mandatory minicamp were followed by an extended period of rest, but the Panthers weren’t without their fair share of drama after finally securing a deal for quarterback Baker Mayfield via trade.

Mayfield has the weight of the world on his shoulders. But if the Panthers want to become more competitive in the coming months, everyone must make a contribution no matter where they stand on the depth chart.

Without further ado, here are four Panthers players who could exceed expectations during the team’s training camp.

Jacob Tuioti-Mariner – Carolina Panthers DL

The Carolina Panthers could do with someone on the defensive line rotation stepping up and surging their way into the team’s plans. Jacob Tuioti-Mariner might be that guy after joining the team earlier this offseason.

Tuioti-Mariner can operate anywhere along the defensive front and managed to perform well on a rotational basis for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021 en route to two sacks. It was just six games, but the former UCLA standout has an opportunity in front of him that cannot be wasted.

If Tuioti-Mariner puts his physical and experience to good use, then it might see him become a shock candidate to make the 53-man roster once training camp comes to a conclusion.
