Tempers flare among Carolina Panthers veterans

Every year sees competitiveness threaten to boil over in training camps across the country. Something the Carolina Panthers haven’t been immune to since their inception, either.

This was evident on the second day of practice when Donte Jackson locked down wide receiver Robbie Anderson during a specific play. This resulted in the former second-round pick making his feelings know in no uncertain terms, which provoked a reaction from the Temple product that almost became something more before things died down.

As in most cases, this competitive edge isn’t a bad thing by any stretch. And according to Vashti Hurt from Carolina Blitz, it ignited a spark across the roster to ensure practice finished on a high.

Seeing established stars putting this much effort in and being vocal is going to have a positive knock-on effect on those further down the depth chart. There’s a fine line when it comes to this sort of thing, but it represents another example of the shift to a more serious camp with plenty at stake in 2022.

Anderson and Jackson are professional enough to know when to turn it in. And make no mistake, both will be counted upon heavily when competitive action arrives.
