What are some big questions surrounding current quarterback options for the Carolina Panthers in 2022?

It’s been fascinating to see the quarterback battle developing during the early stages of training camp at Wofford College. Although many believe the result is a foregone conclusion, the Carolina Panthers are keen to keep people guessing for as long as possible before formally announcing their No. 1 ahead of their regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Some big changes have taken place within the Panthers‘ quarterback room. Not entirely unexpected when one considers Sam Darnold’s struggles following his high-profile trade from the New York Jets.

Just how much things can improve is anyone’s guess. Christian McCaffrey is back and the offensive line received a much-needed revamp, so hopes are high that things can progress under the watchful eye of offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo.

With this in mind, we picked out one question surrounding every Panthers quarterback ahead of and during the 2022 season.

Question No. 1

Would P.J. Walker be happy on the Carolina Panthers practice squad?

When one looks at the Carolina Panthers, it appears as if P.J. Walker is the odd man out even if they do end up taking three quarterbacks onto the roster. The former Temple standout has a close association with Matt Rhule from their time together in college, but his lack of production when called upon leaves many wondering what the future holds.

There is a chance that the Panthers will aim to stash Walker on the practice squad. Whether the one-time XFL MVP candidate would be happy with such a scenario is debatable at this stage of his career.

If Carolina went down this direction, then another team could swoop in pursuit of boosting their own quarterback depth. So it’s something to keep an eye on when the time comes.
